9:45 AM Arrive at the Bemidji Speedskating Oval, walk around the outer edge of the oval. Fill around the oval, the skaters tell us that it gets really lonely on the back straightaway.
10:00 AM Skaters will start- this is where you should get those cowbells, New Year’s noise makers, and your voices working. Your goal: Be as LOUD as possible!
10:50 AM First skater will finish; however the other skaters will finish over the next 35 minutes. So stick around and cheer loudly for the other skaters.
11:00 AM Lots of skaters are trying to make the sub hour mark (it is like running a sub-three hour running marathon). Cheer these skaters on as they attempt to finish.
11:30 AM Last skater will finish. Again, cheer loudly as 25k is a long way to do anything.
11:35 AM Grab some lunch from one of our sponsors, as there are community races in the afternoon. If you have kids, have them bring their skates as young skaters are going to race for fun on the oval. You can race too as there is an adult category and a fun relay race.
2:00 PM Community Races begin. If you would like to skate these races, visit the Community Ed Races Page for more information. They will be a lot of fun.

8:30 AM After returning home to rest, you called some friends. Meet those friends at a local coffee shop to set out your game plan for the day.
8:45 AM Arrive at the Bemidji Speedskating Oval and find a spot to get settled for the race. Today will be a 50k (31 miles) race and many of the skaters that raced yesterday will be racing again today.
9:00 AM Skaters will start- you did this yesterday, so the deal is the same… get those cowbells, New Year’s noise makers, and your voices working. Your goal: Be as LOUD as possible! In the words of one skater, “this is a very long race.”
10:50 AM First skater will finish; however, other skaters will finish over the next hour and 15 minutes. So stick around and cheer loudly- they’ll need it and will appreciate your efforts.
12:00 PM Last skater will finish. Again, cheer loudly.
12:01 PM Pat yourself on the back, you have done a fabulous job.
